CPC Training Package Updates: Everything You Need to Know

23 August 2023 CPC Training Package Update: Extended Transition Period Granted for CPC31511 Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has approved an extended transition period for the CPC31511 Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework qualification, defying conventional timelines and standards. This exceptional decision aims to address the specific needs of learners and ensure a seamless educational journey.

The extended training, assessment, and certification issuance period for the CPC31511 qualification is now officially extended until 31 December 2024.

The extension transition period empowers educational institutions to continue enroling students in this qualification, recognising the value it brings to the vocational landscape. While learners can initiate their educational journey in this certification, they must ensure they either complete the qualification or are seamlessly shifted to its replacement by the designated transition end date.

The decision to extend the transition period for the CPC31511 qualification involved extensive consultation with vital educational bodies like the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) and the Training Accreditation Council of Western Australia (TAC WA), ensuring well-informed decisions from diverse perspectives.

ASQA’s recent decision ushers in an unprecedented extension for the CPC31511 Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework qualification. The standard transition period, which typically adheres to the clauses stated in 1.26 (a), (b), and (c) of the standards, is being stretched further in this case.

During the extended transition period, the CPC31511 Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework qualification will continue to retain its position within the scope of registration of relevant Registered Training Organizations (RTOs). Learners, educators, and institutions alike can rest assured that the value and recognition of this qualification remain intact throughout this extended period.

The CPC31511 Certificate III in Formwork/Falsework is superseded by CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry and is now added to training.gov.au.

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has recently granted an extended transition period for the CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry unit of competency of the construction, plumbing, and services training package until 31 July 2023.

ASQA is authorised to approve transition periods longer than the standard duration based on the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 in certain cases and accordance with the Guidance for Providers – Learner Transition. In this instance, the extended transition period for CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry was approved based on the genuine disadvantage that would be faced by a cohort of learners if the extension were not granted.
